Cloud Architect – Boston, MA

$130-145,000 (+ bonus)

Our Employer is seeking to hire an enterprise-level Cloud Architect to join an agile team of engineers looking after 4000+ servers on a global basis. You will be a part of a plan/build team and will be responsible for deployments within the public cloud.

Job Duties:

  • Plan, build & deliver the technical vision for cloud technologies (Azure) by providing strong technical expertise and advice in cloud services.
  • Provide demonstrated infrastructure deployments through continuous configuration automation (i.e. ARM templates).
  • Contribute to ongoing operational support for Cloud environment, inclusive of network, storage, compute, OS (Windows, Red Hat), and application services.
  • Collaborate with internal business units to facilitate migrations from on-premise deployments to a public cloud environment.
  • Develop an agile set of processes to improve deployment time-to-market for infrastructure request.
  • Join a team of both Architects and Engineers to advance approaches for Azure cloud services.
  • Able to gather and coordinate significant volumes of information and provide acumen into both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Provide tangible results that can contribute to management of the live services.
  • Foster own ideas (and/or the ideas of others), making all the necessary checkpoints and tests and carrying them through to a full practical demonstration.
  • Create models and plans along with peers for the implementation of the strategy, taking advantage of opportunities to improve business performance.

Qualifications:

  • Well versed in cloud constructs primarily from Azure and other providers such as AWS and other tier 1 providers.
  • Proven ability with JSON, PowerShell or 3rd party software tools to create and deploy infrastructure as code (Such as Checkpoint firewall, VMs, Storage Accounts & Managed Disks, Backups, Site Recovery, App Gateways, Load Balancers, Network Security Groups, Active Directory, VNETs, PaaS database offerings, OMS, Data Factory, API Management Service)
  • Demonstrated ability to design, planning and implementation with all infrastructure components including Storage, Network and Compute technologies.
  • Knowledge in developing low level designs as well as enterprise architecture
  • Work as part of a team to execute regionally while maintaining a global view.
  • A proven knowledge of working in a multi-vendor environment
  • A sound grasp of business partnering and full deployment lifecycle will be essential.
  • Keeps overall objectives and strategies in mind and is not unnecessarily distracted by unnecessary matters of detail.
  • Keeps overarching aspects continually in mind when taking actions or making decisions.
  • Seeks understanding of the underlying issues in complex problems or situations by correctly relating these to simpler or better understood concepts, models or previous experiences.
  • Understands that regulatory and industry standards and good practice are key to growth.
  • Familiar with third party products and services and service level agreements knowledge.
  • Agile certification highly desirable.

Expertise Required:

  • 5+ years IT Infrastructure management experience including Azure cloud infrastructure management
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Methods and techniques for structured reviews, including reviews of technical diagrams, themes, capabilities, epics and stories during sprints and program increment sessions within a Scaled Agile framework desirable
  • Experience with enterprise and solution architecture desirable
  • Utility business knowledge of the full IT lifecycle desirable
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Good stakeholder management and influencing skills at project stakeholder level
  • Ability to convey conceptual architecture or detailed architecture depending on audience
  • Ability to work as part of a team
